The WorldGenWeb project was created in 1996 in an effort to answer
the ever growing needs of genealogists worldwide who were trying to
research their ancestors. The goal of the project is to
have every country in the world represented by a Website
hosted by researchers who either live in their own country or who are
familiar with their country's resources. WorldGenWeb is a
not-for-profit volunteer genealogical organisation dedicated to the
free access of genealogical information by anyone in the world.
AustraliaGenWeb has been online since early 1996.

Our dedicated group of volunteers, some local and some throughout
the world, are active in Australian research, each hosting a state,
territory or island that they have a research interest in. We pride
ourselves in being available and friendly, offering
helpful advice to new researchers.
We are a non-commercial entity and work hard to form collaborative
relationships with many Australian resources on the Internet. We do
not provide research for a fee, nor do we recommend professional
genealogists for hire. We do not engage in research for others,
although some of our volunteers do offer to do lookups, at their
convenience. Our goal is to provide the essential elements that new
researchers need. Among those are quality informational pages,
pertinent addresses, maps, query and surname resources and friendly
mailing lists.
You might come across a state, territory or island that
is in need of a permanent host. If you would be interested,
