Charles Hugh Fawcett was commonly known as Hugh. He was born in 1814 in the North of Irelend. In 1843 High came to Australia with money to invest. He purchased the property names Fairymount, but only kept it for a couple of years.

Hugh moved to Ballina & became involved in politics. He in fact, in 1881, he became the first member for the seat of Richmond. Hugh resigned in 1882 & retired to Bullahdelah. After an inquiry, he was appointed Police Magistrate. It is unknown what shadow lay on the life of Hugh Fawcett.

Hugh died at Stoud in 1890.
